Easy Homemade Vanilla Custard

Custard is generally referred to as a dessert made with milk, eggs, and sugar. Custard is usually cooked in a double boiler or heated very gently in a saucepan on a stove, though custard can also be steamed, baked in the oven with or without a water bath, or even cooked in a pressure cooker. This recipe is very easy to make and only needs a few ingredients.

Bhapa Ilish ( Steamed Hilsa in Mustard gravy )

Bhapa Ilish means ‘Steamed Hilsa’ , where BHAPA represents ‘STEAMING’.

It is a classic Bengali preparation where fresh Ilish/hilsa is marinated in mustard seed paste , along with turmeric, green chili, salt and a liberal dousing of mustard oil , and then steamed in a stainless steel tiffin box or covered pot.

Bhapa ilish can be prepared in pressure cooker, steamer , or even in a microwave oven.
